| About Us: Rachael Markarian |
|
Rachael Markarian has been dancing almost her entire life. To help overcome her shyness, Rachael's mother enrolled her in dance at the young age of three. Along with attending a Performing Arts High School where she studied dance, music, and theatre every day for six years, she also trained in both Boston and New York City. It was in New York where she had the privilege of being the youngest person offered a scholarship at Steps On Broadway. It was during that time where she fell in love with the art of dance and found her calling in Performing Arts. Rachael began dancing professionally at the age of 16 when she was asked to perform during the Pro Bowl Half-Time show in Hawaii, with the then new group N-SYNC. Upon graduating high school in 2000, Rachael attended Oklahoma City University, as a Dance Performance Major. After attending a Los Angeles based dance convention with her peers Rachael was offered a scholarship at EDGE Performing Arts Centre. During her summer vacations she traveled to LA to train and perform in live stage productions. It was there where she was discovered by a dance agent and offered an immediate contract. After completing two and a half years in the dance program at OCU, Rachael was offered a job in Los Angeles and decided it was time for her to embark on the next chapter in her life, so she decided to leave OCU in 2003 and move to Los Angeles. For the past four years Rachael has been fortunate to have a successful career as a working dancer. She has worked in all areas of the entertainment industry from film, television, commercials, music videos, live theatre and industrials to run-way/print modeling, and spokes modeling. She booked her first tour six months after moving to LA, with Latin artist, Chayanne. For two years Rachael and three other dancers performed for sold out crowds, and toured the United States, Central America, South America, Europe and Australia. Her film credits include The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy, Southland Tales starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rush Hour 3 starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, as well as Short Films. Her TV credits include MTV Movie and Music Award performances with artists such as The White Stripes, T.a.T.u. and Rihanna. Also she has appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and Nip / Tuck. Her commercial credits include, Honda CR-V, Farmer's Insurance, which she not only performed in but also choreographed, H&M Campaigns, Country Music Awards, and Melagro Cell Phones. Rachael has modeled for Nike, Asics, Harley Davidson, Matrix, Wella, Sebastian and KMS Hair Companies, MAC, Smooch Jeans, and Junker. Currently, Rachael is very honored to be working for choreographer Tina Landon, dancing for Rihanna on her upcoming Good Girl Gone Bad tour. Along with continuing her life as a dancer, performer and choreographer she also studies acting with Stella Adler protege Arthur Mendoza. |
